How is this possible for two rival brands to work together? But Burger King bucked the odds. At the pandemic’s start, rivals Burger King and McDonald’s worked for the greater good. And the explanation for this warmed everyone’s heart.
Burger King stunned its consumers when they encouraged them to order from McDonald’s or any other food outlet so that businesses employing vast numbers of people might receive help during these difficult times. This made a little sense, given that these two frequently ridicule each other on social media channels.

People should also buy food from “KFC, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Five Guys, Greggs, Taco Bell, Papa John’s, Leon, or any other independent food outlet,” according to the UK branch of the fast-food chain’s Twitter account.
The rivals reunite
That, however, was enough. It’s the year 2021, and McDonald’s is urging Poles to place special orders on Saturday to support a charitable campaign.
The fast-food giant invited consumers to attend a charity event on McDonald’s McHappy Day (Dec 11) in a campaign created by 180heartbeats +Jung von Matt. On that day, one Polish zloty (about $0.25) from each portion of fries purchased at McDonald’s was donated to the fast-food chain’s Ronald McDonald Houses, which assist sick children.
People who visit Burger King and provide a receipt for fries from McDonald’s will receive a free Whopper Junior.
In a remark, Zuzanna Kilar-Tyczynska, brand manager of Burger King Poland, said, “At Burger King, we want the world to be a better place, and we know that our guests feel the same way”. “That is why, not for the first and not the last time, we are involved in a cause that can change the lives of many families for the better. Matters such as helping the needy are beyond all divisions”, he added.
It’s inspiring to see how rival brands work together (sometimes) for a common cause. But, it’s evident that it won’t last. The relationship will be back with burns from both sides.
