In response to recent restrictions on allegedly “scandalous” art on social media sites, Vienna’s Tourist Board has launched an OnlyFans account to upload sexual artwork pieces.

Vienna has hosted several of the world’s greatest artists, including Egon Schiele and Koloman Moser, over the ages. Meanwhile, their work upped the ante of what was allowed in culture and art. Artists are famed for their stark representations of the naked human body. The artists believe it is time to usher in a new era of artwork eternally. So, it should come as a shock that various museums in Vienna, including the Leopold Museum and the Albertina Museum’s artwork showing nakedness, are blocked on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Due to this, the Vienna Tourist Board has created their account on the adult content platform OnlyFans. This will allow them to submit artwork showing nudity openly. Egon Schiele’s Seated Male Nude and a Venus of Willendorf figure are popular works on the profile.

Viewers are enticed by sights of the “mound of Venus” and Schiele’s “unique assets” (no prizes for guessing what those might be!) in the teaser.  The first 100 Vienna OnlyFans account users will get a complimentary Vienna City Card or access pass to experience the masterpieces in reality.

This campaign comes as an important element of a greater effort to #FixTheAlgorithm. Artists created this hashtag to make people aware of the discriminatory marketing of their artwork on social networking sites.

Helena Hartlauer, the spokesperson for the Vienna tourist board, said, “This marketing initiative of ours is not the ultimate solution for this problematic relationship between the art world and social media. But, we want to stand up for our values and our beliefs,” she said. “Vienna has always been famous for being open-minded.”
